About Paul

Meet Paul – Your Trusted Building Inspector in Christchurch.

With over 30 years of experience in New Zealand’s residential and commercial property sector, Paul brings a wealth of expertise to every inspection.

Paul started with Betta Group in 2017 as a building inspector under Betta Inspect It and soon moved into our asbestos consultancy sector, completing his qualification BOHS – IP402 in April 2017.

Paul has been involved with the construction of both residential and commercial properties for more than three decades. 

When dealing with Paul, you will find that he is straight-forward, genuine and enjoys meeting people from all walks of life.

With his background in the building industry and experience in the asbestos sector since 2017, Paul brings a wealth of knowledge to the team at Betta Asbestos Consultancy. 

Paul is a family orientated man who enjoys fishing, free diving, photography and travelling.

About Steve & Helen

Steve has an extensive background in the building and property sector having been a qualified builder for over 30 years. He is a certified property inspector that can also provide methamphetamine testing, Healthy Homes, tenancy, and end of tenancy inspections.    

Steve’s wife, Helen, works alongside him as a certified Betta Building Compliance Inspector. Helen manages the administrative side of the business.

Outside of work, Helen and Steve enjoy spending time on their lifestyle block and keeping fit.

The Residential Tenancies (Healthy Homes Standards) Regulations 2019 became law on 1st July 2019. The terms outlined require all rental homes to address and fix issues with cold, damp, drainage and draughts in rental properties. 

The Healthy Homes standards aim to improve the quality for rental properties so that the nearly 1.2 million New Zealanders that rent in New Zealand have warmer, drier homes. 

The Healthy Homes standards aim to close the quality gap between rental properties and owner-occupied homes, so the nearly 600,000 households that rent in New Zealand have warmer, drier places to call home. 

About Andy

Andy is a fully qualified builder who has been in the industry for over 20 years working in his family business. Andy has been involved in the Christchurch rebuild, working on hundreds of earthquake-damaged homes for EQC and major insurance companies including his own home. Andy has also built new architectural energy efficient homes. 

Living on a lifestyle block just out of Christchurch city with his wife and two daughters, Andy is close to his other passions which are hunting and fishing. When not working or tending to the block, you’ll find Andy down at the river with his two dogs, casting a line in the water for that perfect salmon. 

Furthermore, Andy is fully qualified and can also support with:
