SUSTAINABILITY

Betta Group: Pioneering eco-friendly property inspections with purpose

We are revolutionising property inspections by blending cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility.

Our organisation is delivering services that will reduce environmental impact by:

  • Working on cloud-based software. Every Inspector completes their inspections on an iPad, minimising the use of paper products on a day-to-day basis
  • Our head office team have everything online and rarely print any material. We are actively working towards a paperless environment
  • Our Inspectors operate largely within the region where they live, minimising travel costs
  • Low occasional requirement for air travel which makes a minimal impact on our contribution to emissions
  • Focused on our carbon footprint and encourage the use of electric vehicles
  • Air travel is kept to a minimum. It is company policy that any flights for business have the emissions offset via the AirNZ booking platform
  • We use Energy saving lighting within head office.  All computers switch off after 15 minutes of non-use to limit power usage
  • We encourage ridesharing to work where possible with our head office and inspector team
  • Actively encourage public transport use
  • Donating and supporting charities that directly support and encourage a cleaner New Zealand
  • We have a board mandate to be Net Carbon Neutral by 2026

Making sustainability profitable

Inspecting properties still needs to be profitable, otherwise it wouldn’t attract employers. The costs of inspections largely come down to labour being the time to accurately access a property and produce a detailed report, so we constantly seek ways to support our inspectors to be efficient but still embracing our core principles of sustainably.

We can do this by using local suppliers, inspecting more efficiently though standardisation and supportive systems, and innovating processes to save time, such as with automation, which reduces labour times both on and off site.

Protecting properties, the planet and our people

We don’t just inspect properties – we safeguard them and our people with our eco-conscious approach. We provide safe and fair working conditions for our people.

Sustainability in the workplace is about taking the responsibility to provide equal employment opportunities, irrespective of ethnicity, nationality, sexuality or gender. It’s about paying people a fair wage, supporting diversity and providing safe working environments so our employees can go home to their families each night.

Inspecting with purpose

Inspecting a property with purpose is two-fold. It encompasses taking a positive, proactive approach to sustainability in every aspect of our business, and it includes applying this approach to every property we inspect.

Sustainability flows on to the people living, using or working in every building we inspect. We factor in health and safety, how we organise the inspection, how we complete the inspection and how the final report is delivered so the full inspection process supports continued sustainability for our people and planet.
